Who should learn & When: Robotics at school typically combines knowledge of coding, electronics, and mechanics. It’s often offered through school robotics clubs, ATL labs, or external programs like RoboCup Junior, WRO (World Robot Olympiad) etc. Children as young as 6 or 7 start with simple robotics kits (like LEGO WeDo or simple motor-based kits), but structured robotics education often ramps up around class 6 onward with kits like LEGO Mindstorms or Arduino-based robots. By middle and high school (classes 6-12), any student fascinated by building things that move or solve problems (like a robot vacuum concept) should get into robotics. Schools may have electives or integration in science exhibition projects. Some boards like CBSE don’t have a dedicated “Robotics” subject in curriculum, but many CBSE schools partner with providers to include robotics in their curriculum (often as part of Work Experience or clubs). ICSE schools similarly have clubs. So, when: as an extracurricular from primary classes up, but more systemically from class 6-10.
